Just some updates.

I should be more careful about the stuff I leave lying around the internet.

-

Anyway, I signed up for some Burlesque Cabaret dance course thingy at Groove dance studio. It was some highly discounted thing that I saw through Groupon.sg's website, and I decided to give it a try. I'm still really confused as to how the whole thing works though, so i'm just signing up first and figuring out later.

Will be going to the studio tomorrow to find out more. I'm really quite interested in the course, so I hope there won't be any problems [considering how complicated the process was] and i'll be able to take it :D

Looking forward to it ^^

House days.

Had supper after House course with a few Soul Funky people. We sat and talked for hours, then headed to Heeren where JW parked his car and started dancing in the empty basement.

Fun :)

A Walk Into Memory Studio

So I got my new laptop yesterday, right? I can finally watch videos and listen to music without any lag. Dug up some of those old dance videos [the ones that we took after class] to watch.

I can't help smiling/laughing while watching them. Even now. I notice that in most videos, after we finish doing the choreo, we'll start laughing. Heh. It's nice. I'm really glad that it was such an enjoyable experience then :)

From what I see in Yunning's blog, I think i'm not the only one who prefers to remember the studio as it was last time.

Reflections.

Yunning and I were mentioning after House one day, that we saw what we used to be like, in somebody else. [Annoying lol.]

I just saw my 19-year-old self reflected in someone else. Those days where my heart would skip a beat while i took the stairs two at a time, heading up to the second floor in Keck Seng. The joy at dancing together, and receiving positive feedback. The excitement at meeting people and making friends. The fun we all had, as well as some... other things.

:)

I remember posting something in Multiply about enjoying this phase while it lasted. I'm glad i pretty much did. It wasn't super fantastic, but i liked the way it was.

You know you've reached the end when you're looking back at it.

Like i said before, i've never really been on the same wavelength as those passionate dancers, since dance has always been just a hobby/interest to me. A lot of my dancer friends don't understand how this works for me, but that's okay. Thank you for sharing this experience with me :)

Of course, it's not really the end. I'm still dancing, albeit at a much lower frequency than before. Just let me take dance as what i had intended it to be, just a chapter in my book of life experiences :)

Yay!

Locking part for combined item done! :D I think in a way, doing stuff individually is a lot more efficient, but i guess if more people were involved, there would've been better ideas and probably better performance.

Jiayou Soul Funky! Particularly the committee members who've been putting so much into the upcoming stuff. Not just the choreos and practices, but all the admin stuff behind it as well.

Finally a free day tomorrow to catch up on other stuff :)

Blah.

Just remembered that day at Danzation, during the intermission. Chris [the Locking guy from Korea], who had been sitting two rows down, came up to talk to me lol. That was after Robin [re]-introduced us. We met before but he forgot; not surprising, i'm sure he meets lots of people. So after a bit, i asked, "So what're you still doing here?"

He was like, "... Right. What am i still doing here. Thanks huh."

THEN i realised that it sounded like i was asking him how come he's still sitting next to me. -slaps forehead- Guh. I always end up saying something i don't mean. I was actually asking how come he was still in Singapore -.-

No wonder i often have miscommunication problems with my boy.

Anytheway. Had Soul Funky meeting with the Bboy club earlier. Had this whole crash course where the Bboys learnt our styles and we learnt theirs, for the sake of our performance. Lol. Say yay for eyecandies ^^

K. The end.

Danzation :)

It was good, really. I enjoyed the second half much more, particularly since there was a storyline. The videos are really well done :) And yes, i cried at the family love part. No surprise there.

When the song "Dance With My Father" started playing, i literally felt a shiver down my spine. The last time i heard the song [which wasn't very long ago; 15 Nov] i bawled my lungs out for two nights in a row. I'm just thankful i didn't repeat that just now.

My life motto is "Live. Love. Believe." but i'm not doing so well on the 'love' part. I can never bring myself to do what i have to.

Guilt hurts. So bad.

Superrrr cool!

It's 12.30am on Saturday and i just got home after Pop, Lock and dinnering with a whole bunch of people. I know i should be showering right now, but seriously this is waaay too cool to blog later.

So first there was Leonard, his brother Lionel, their friend Chayut who's Thai and is one of Singapore's national badminton players [he insists he's here to study and not 'imported' by the Singapore government LOL]. Melissa and her two friends Magdalene and Vivian [i'm not sure if i got all the names right] joined us later. Okay from here, the story gets just a little messy.

Melissa was so excited about Chayut knowing Ronald Susilo personally. She actually went, "Hmmm, now that he's no longer with Li Jia Wei..." LOL. I think she might just try hunting him down one day =/

Vivian is my secondary schoolmate O_O We found each other familiar, then she asked me. Turns out she's Geraldine's classmate :) And Magdalene eventually asked me if i knew Zoe, i think she's Zoe's coursemate or something in SMU.

Small world.

And then. And then. And then.

Justin came! No not my brother. He's Leonard's friend and he's a card flourisher. Not just any card flourisher, he's like THE best. If you're wondering whatever on earth card flourishing is, don't worry. About an hour ago i was wondering too. Click on the link, it's really cool, trust me :)

He did some magic tricks that completely baffled us... the girls at least. I realised that magic is such a girl-magnet lol.

Waaah. Justin's super cool. He can do really cool stuff with cards, he's fun, plus he's humourous and stuff. I think that makes him pretty charming. [Don't be mistaken, i'm not smitten or anything. I just don't usually hide compliments.]

Bah. It's unfair. Why does Leonard have such cool friends? [Nooo i'm not shooting my own social circle! :(]

Had a really enjoyable dinner :D K now i shall go shower. Going swimming later.

Oh and with reference to the previous post? I didn't manage to go to the studio until today, and by today the SMU students might probably have finished their exams. [Hah excuses i'm just too cowardly to do what i wanted to do.]

Some random updates about stuff

4e4 BBQ
I had a class gathering at East Coast on Saturday, with the people i mostly haven't seen for 4 years. I'm not really going to go into detail about the whole thing, but i kinda want to reflect on something a bit.

So on that day, i happily went for the BBQ, hoping to catch up with old classmates and do some networking. I decided i'd be able to do pretty well after i learnt how to be a lot more sociable in poly. I could probably start chatting with my 4e4 classmates as easily as i could do with my poly friends.

It started out pretty fine, because i first met up with 6 people, one of which was one of my besties, Brain, and another was a girl in my secondary school clique. Subsequently, when we reached East Coast, 3 more people were there already, and it was still okay. I still managed to talk to almost everyone [which was actually only about 10] there, asked what they were doing and stuff.

Over the few hours we were there, people kept arriving. By the end of the night, i was staying quietly in a corner. Back to being that invisible person i was in secondary school.

-______________________-

Okay. I don't know what happened. The only thing i actually managed to say to more or less everyone was when i had to collect money from them as i was tasked to by the class chairman. And even with that i had some difficulty, because i started getting afraid of approaching them as the number of people increased.

I didn't exactly manage to meet my objective, as you can tell. But okay at least i managed to talk to some people. I'm just wondering why i can't bring those positive traits over from my poly personality. Oh well.

AA101 Project
They think it's funny giving us fucked up companies with screwed up financial statements.

Nothing. Just complaining.

Code Edge
18 October's less than 2 weeks away. Jiayou girls!

Too many things i want to say

But not the right time to say it. It's something that i've been thinking about for a very long time; possibly ever since i even started, but i just let things be. Okay, i'll stop beating around the bush.

pas·sion /ˈpæʃən/ [pash-uhn]
–noun
6.
a strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything: a passion for music.

hob·by1 /ˈhɒbi/ [hob-ee]
–noun, plural -bies.
1.
an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation: Her hobbies include stamp-collecting and woodcarving.

From dictionary.com.

And many of the things i want to talk about currently boils down to this one point:
Dancing is my hobby. It was when i started, it still is now, and as all hobbies do, it may or may not continue into the future. All that matters to me is - I enjoy it, so i do it [in line with Thorndike's Law of Effect].

It's just that i'm surrounded by people who have an awesome passion for dance. Naturally there's this certain pressure to keep up; not in ability, but interest. When i try too hard, i start to detest what i'm doing. Then it kinda loses the whole point, doesn't it?

I like dancing. I like House, i like Locking, and i like Popping. But i guess my liking isn't enough to grow into something more than a hobby.
