Where I am and where I have to be.
11 Dec, Saturday - AA304 exam
Progress: Not the best but still okay, considering I haven't skipped any lessons so far.
Plan: Study for it while studying for the quiz next week, and the few days before the exam.
16 Dec, Thursday - CS100 exam & AA306 exam
Progress: CS100 - Am screwed for lecture attendance since I don't bother going anymore; already finished studying for it last week. AA306 - Fucked.
Plan: Mug AA306 consistently over the entire stretch. CS100 read again just before the exam.
22 Dec, Wednesday - AC208 exam
Progress: NIL. Like really NIL, because I didn't go for a single lesson since i'm technically exempted from all the lessons.
Plan: Mug starting from the end of everything, and hope that this doesn't lead me to the end of everything.

Ownership.
It's the first time in a very long time that I feel as though i'm doing more work than my other group members. That i'm leading the group. That I know the most within the group. Even though maybe i'm not.
It feels nice.
It feels familiar.
I'm the kind of person who needs to be given ownership/leadership of something in order for me to do it well.

Why I like my electives more than my core.
"When we care about another person, we invest time, energy, thought, and feelings in interaction. In doing this, we invest ourselves in others. ... Investments are powerful because they are personal choices to give things that can't be recovered. ... The more we invest in a relationship, the more difficult it is to end it." - Communication Mosaics, Julia T. Wood
And in my BL245 lesson last week, we learnt about the $20 auction.
Here's how the game is played. You are bidding for $20. You can bid an additional $1 above each previous bid - simple, just like normal bidding. Except, the person who wins the bid pays the amount he bidded in return for the $20. But the second highest bidder has to pay the amount he bidded, but get nothing in return.
How high do you think the highest bid for this $20 ever went?
"Take the experiment run by Harvard Business School professor Max Bazerman. Over the past decade, Bazerman has auctioned off a $20 bill to students as part of a class he teaches. Using strict logic, nobody would bid over $20, but the auctions have reached over $400 as participants get caught in the game of trying to come out on top." - Eyes on the Prize
As accountants, we learn not to take sunk costs into account.
But that's not how people work.

One sentence I never thought i'd write.
I'm studying with J at the National Library right now.
No, seriously. We're actually doing work.

Freaking Sunday blues.
Dread school tomorrow. Maybe I won't go. It's such a waste of time travelling 4 hours for a 2-hour lesson in which I will most likely be playing Tower Madness throughout.
It's time to buck up.

Self-intro.
As I mentioned a few blog posts down, I had to do a short description of myself for my CS100 assignment. Here's the result.
I have pink hair.
Socially awkward, weird, possibly even a little eccentric - that is, until you get to know me. I'm slow to warm up to people, but close to those who manage to break the ice. I have been told that I am stubborn, but I insist that I am not.
Many things interest me. I enjoy scuba diving, dancing and card flourishing, to name a few. In school, I dance with Soul Funky, a young club that I helped to set up two years ago which specializes in Popping and Locking styles of dance. I love doing strange and crazy things, which is why I am in the most exciting course in school - Accountancy.
I have also been told that I am sarcastic.
Psychology and Sociology interest me and help me understand why I am so different from my peers sometimes. I mean, it's not often that you find an accountant with pink hair and a tattoo (but do not be mistaken; the tattoo was not one of those crazy ideas I had, I deliberated for several years before getting it and it is meaningful to me).
I like cracking jokes and making people laugh, but unfortunately not many people understand my sense of humour. A bit of an entertainer at heart, which puzzles me as to why I chose a career path that keeps me stuck in a corner of the office crunching numbers day and night.
Yup.
Randomness. It's a gift.

Seems i'm only free on Tuesdays.
Yeah I miss the holidays. Can't imagine what it'll be like after I graduate and have to find a job.
Strangely enough, I never felt this way before. Then again it's not that strange; non-school/work life was never this fun before I met J.
Had a nice relaxing day together, having lunch with his mom, then walking around near his place in shorts and slippers, and watching WLiiA at home. It's nice to be able to spend such stressless time together even though school's started. Probably won't be able to do all this when the workload becomes heavier.
Okay. Time to start homework. Gotta buck up this sem.
Will not start bitching about the elective system until i'm really left with no elective.

What keeps me alive in school.
This morning, just like most other mornings, I woke up thinking of an excuse not to go to school. But I dragged myself out of bed anyway.
This lesson, just like most other 8.30am lessons, had a much smaller number of students in it. Luckily for me, some people I knew turned up, and I had company for that class. Then I got some stuff done, and went to meet SY for lunch, with her coursemates and YL. Thanks for the company :) I would've hated it if I had to be alone for the few hours.
Met J for his EAR801 lecture. I had expected to be doing my own work in there, but the lecture was pretty interesting and I ended up actually listening through most of it. The same didn't quite happen for the FIL250 lecture later in the evening. Between that, we took a walk to his ex-hall and took a few pictures with the Holga :)
It's kinda nice being in the same lessons as J.
Had dinner at JP, a cookies&cream milkshake, then went home. J missed his last train home just so he could send me back to Pasir Ris, despite the fact that all I was doing was sleeping next to him. Thanks <3
School's not so bad after all.

I don't wanna wake up.
So I got back from my diving trip yesterday. Living and breathing the sea for a week. It was refreshing.
Just checked my school email. There were a ton of new mails, which isn't surprising considering I haven't checked in two weeks. But then the fact that school was going to start again began to sink in.
I'm only just beginning to enjoy having enough time to spend with the people I want, anytime I want. I haven't had enough of that dream world we just managed to create. I'm not ready to wake up yet. I don't know if I ever want to wake up and face reality.
Especially now that there's no hall. I have no purpose of being in school, again.
Except Soul Funky. Except Benedict.
Except J.
-
This coming Monday is a 8.30am - 2.30pm day. At least after I submit the carryover of coursework grade for CLaw then I won't have to go for the lessons. Which means 10.30am - 2.30pm every Monday anyway.
I still don't have electives. Neither does J. We're both pretty screwed.

I never learn.
I always procrastinate for report submissions, until the very last minute. And my last-minute work is always, at best, like crap. And I still keep doing it.
How this can be part of a professional report, I have no idea.
2. Working for U
2.1 National Trades Union Congress
During the interview for the internship, I was asked, “Why NTUC?”
My reply was simply, “What better place to work in than an organization that seeks to improve working conditions for other organizations?”
I was proven correct.
It's pass/fail right. No fail I happy liao kthxbai.
-
Evidently I care so much.
Just submitted the thing without even proofreading. Less than 1,500 words.
Whatever la.

Yay!
First roll of Holga pictures are out! :D Only have them in hardcopy though. They turned out a lot better than we expected. Maybe next round we'll get them in a CD.
Another roll loaded and ready to go :) And I already know that the first picture's going to be my favourite.
Oh yeah I finally got my timetable. Screwed just like I expected it to be. But ah well. As long as J's in school as well things will be fine (:
Partay time tomorrow in the office!

...
It's difficult being a good... everything all at the same time.
Mom just snapped at me because she hasn't been seeing much of me.
I'm having family dinner tomorrow. Nobody touch me.

That feeling.
When you listen to a song. Or come across a familiar scent.
The feeling that's just short of giving you goosebumps.
When your heart seems to beat faster and slower at the same time. When this cold and warm feeling spreads from your heart to the rest of your body. When it becomes harder to breathe. When you start thinking of places, events, people and things that you associate with that song, or that scent.
That feeling that makes you want to cry, but not out of sadness.
That feeling that I get whenever I listen to Memory.
Yes. That feeling.
-
I freaking missed my course registration date. I was actually allowed to register for courses on Monday because I took an MC for CLaw. Now I have to wait several days before I know the outcome of the request I just sent in.
Zzz.
